Built as St. Paul and Duluth Railroad #71 in 1896 by Baldwin Locomotive Works with a construction number of 14796. It became Northern Pacific L-4 #927 in 1900. Converted into shop engine # 10 in 1928 and used in Brainerd shops until 1955 when it was retired. It was donated to the city of Brainerd in 1955 and stored until placement of it in Lum Park in 1961. It was on display in lum Park until November 1st of 2006 when it was moved to our museum. The restoration back to an L-4 began in Brainerd with the breakdown to prepare it for transport. The restoration is ongoing and is primarily done in the summer months. Check back to this site for periodic upates.
